On 5 August 2026, Persatuan Haiwan Terbiar Malaysia (SAFM) held the Justice for Rocky press conference to give Rocky’s owner a safe and proper platform to share her account, explain the chronology and address the allegations surrounding the case. The press conference was held at Rogues@Gasing, Petaling Jaya.
With different claims already circulating publicly, SAFM believed it was important that her account, the full chronology and the key questions surrounding Rocky’s death were properly placed on record.
The press conference was important for one simple reason: this case should not be judged only from a short video clip, rumours or public speculation. What happened before, during and after the recording must be properly investigated together with all relevant evidence.
About 100 registered attendees were present, with the majority from the media. SAFM sincerely thanks all journalists, photographers and media representatives for their professionalism, cooperation and responsible coverage.
Due to safety concerns, SAFM arranged a close protection officer for Rocky’s owner, together with RELA personnel, to ensure the event remained safe and orderly.
Mr Choo Dee Wei and several lawyers were also present as Rocky’s owner seeks legal advice on the matter. SAFM has coordinated with the legal team to ensure appropriate legal support is available where necessary.
SAFM respects every lawful effort seeking justice for Rocky. Our focus remains on ensuring that the important questions are properly raised, including the dog-catching SOP, the equipment and methods used, and whether the relevant animal-welfare standards were followed.
We will not prejudge the investigation or the responsibility of any party. We respect the legal process and will continue to follow the case closely.
Our purpose is clear: justice, accountability and the truth.
Rocky cannot speak for himself. The evidence and the law must now speak for him.
