Sekali lagi harimau belang dewasa mati akibat dirempuh kenderaan di lebuhraya Bentong – Kilometer 50.8 Kuala Lumpur-Karak (KLK) arah Kuala Lumpur berhampiran Lentang. Kejadian sebegini perlu diambil perhatian oleh kerajaan Malaysia terutamanya Jabatan Perhilitan untuk memantau impak Hidupan liar disebabkan perubahan iklim dan Ekosistem negara. Kita patut lebih mengambil berat tentang kekerapan hidupan liar yang mati akibat kemalangan disebabkan kenderaan. Kita harus sedar kemalangan ini berlaku disebabkan ekosistem haiwan liar di Malaysia yang musnah akibat pembalakan yang berleluasa dan pembangunan yang pesat di sesetengah tempat. Menurut laporan populasi harimau ini semakin merosot dan menurut WWF Malaysia setakat 2022, dianggarkan kurang daripada 150 ekor, sebahagian besarnya kerana habitat haiwan ini yang terjejas akibat penggondolan hutan, pembesaran kawasan pertanian serta pemburuan yang berleluasa. Manakala badan PBB(UN) melaporkan pemanasan global turut memberi kesan negatif terhadap ekosistem. Pelepasan karbon dioksida yang berlebihan dan kekurangan hutan telah menyebabkan suhu meningkat secara mendadak. Kesemua data ini menunjukkan risiko kehilangan habitat seterusnya populasi haiwan terancam, lagi-lagi haiwan kebangsaan kita sendiri yakni Harimau Malaya. Pupukkan tabiat positif dalam menjaga alam sekitar dan hidupkan liar seperti kempen kesedaran perlu diperluaskan lagi. Jalan penyelesaian yang baru dan cara menyelamatkan Harimau Malaya perlu diperkuatkan. Pemandu juga perlu bertanggungjawab untuk memandu kereta dengan berhemah dan berhati-hati ketika memandu di waktu malam dalam kawasan hutan. Harimau Malaya adalah hidupan liar yang terancam dan dilindungi sepenuhnya mengikut Akta Pemuliharaan Hidupan Liar 2010 (Akta 716).Malah berdasarkan International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Harimau Malaya diletakkan dalam senarai merah spesies sangat terancam. Kalau tidak kita rakyat Malaysia, siapa lagi yang akan melindungi spesis harimau Malaya kita?

Haiwan kesayangan bukan sekadar peliharaan; bagi banyak individu, mereka adalah sebahagian daripada keluarga. Namun, untuk memastikan kesihatan dan kesejahteraan haiwan-haiwan ini, penjaga sering kali perlu menghadapi beban kewangan yang besar. Langkah ini tidak hanya akan meringankan beban kewangan mereka tetapi juga mengiktiraf peranan penting yang dimainkan oleh penjaga haiwan dalam memastikan kesejahteraan haiwan kesayangan yang dianggap sebagai sebahagian daripada keluarga. Salah satu bidang yang boleh diberi perhatian adalah subsidi untuk kos pemandulan haiwan. Pemandulan bukan sahaja penting bagi mengawal populasi haiwan terbiar tetapi juga mempunyai impak positif jangka panjang dalam mengurangkan masalah pembuangan haiwan yang tidak diingini serta mengawal kes kacau ganggu haiwan. Presiden SAFM R Kalaivanan berkata, misi itu adalah yang keempat selepas pihaknya menyalurkan bantuan di Taman Sri Muda Shah Alam dan Bukit Nanding, Hulu Langat, Selangor serta Segamat, Johor. Menurut Kalaivanan, matlamatnya adalah meringankan beban pemilik haiwan khususnya di Kuala Berang yang dilanda banjir teruk, baru-baru ini. “Sebanyak 1,740 kilogram (kg) makanan kucing dan anjing diagihkan kepada pemilik haiwan yang terjejas di 11 kampung terpilih iaitu Kampung Bukit Gemuruh , Kampung Kuala Menjing, Kampung Durian Badar, Kampung Padang Setar, Kampung Sekayu, Kampung Pelandan, Kampung Cheting, Kampung Menerong, Kampung Betong, Kampung Kemat, dan juga Kampung Kuala Pueh. “Agihan makanan turut diberi kepada haiwan terbiar di sekitar kawasan banjir. “Seramai lapan ahli SAFM dan sukarelawan digerakkan, manakala sebanyak tiga kenderaan pacuan empat roda digunakan untuk misi itu,” katanya kepada Harian Metro. Menurutnya, makanan haiwan disalurkan kepada ketua dan penduduk kampung untuk diagihkan kepada semua pemilik haiwan. “Penduduk kampung sangat berterima kasih dan menghargainya kerana bekalan makanan kucing mereka terputus. “SAFM mengucapkan ribuan terima kasih kepada yang turut menjayakan misi ini termasuk Ahli Exco Persatuan Perubatan Veterinar Malaysia (Mavma) Dr Farina Mustaffa Kamal yang menyumbang sebahagian makanan haiwan kepada kami. “Walaupun misi ini merupakan rancangan saat akhir, beliau memastikan bekalan makanan haiwan yang kami bawa mencukupi untuk diedarkan kepada mangsa banjir. “Beliau turut menyumbang kira-kira 400 kg makanan kucing dan memberi sokongan moral kepada pasukan kami untuk menggerakkan misi ini,” katanya. Putrajaya: Persatuan Haiwan Malaysia (Animal Malaysia) memohon pihak berkuasa segera mengambil tindakan terhadap individu yang memukul kucing dengan kejam. Presiden Animal Malaysia, Arie Dwi Andika berkata, pihaknya menerima aduan selepas rakaman video tular memaparkan seorang wanita memukul seekor kucing menggunakan kayu. Menurutnya, menerusi video itu jelas kedengaran suara seorang individu yang berada di kawasan rumah menyarankan wanita terbabit memukul kucing itu sehingga mati. Katanya, perbuatan itu boleh dikategorikan sangat kejam kerana terdapat pelbagai cara lain yang lebih bijak dalam menangani masalah itu seperti menanam pokok Coleus Canina atau menggunakan semburan penghalau haiwan (cat repellent spray) yang selamat digunakan kepada haiwan. “Animal Malaysia dan Persatuan Haiwan Terbiar Malaysia (SAFM) kecewa dengan tindakan individu tidak bertanggungjawab dan berharap kes ini mendapat tindakan dari pihak berkuasa,” katanya ketika dihubungi. Sejak semalam tular di Facebook memaparkan seorang wanita memukul seekor kucing dengan sebatang kayu dan kejadian itu dipercayai berlaku di sebuah kediaman di Cyberjaya. Arie berkata, tindakan wanita itu boleh menimbulkan masalah lebih besar seperti kejadian membunuh haiwan berkenaan. Katanya, perbuatan tidak berperikemanusiaan terhadap haiwan adalah kesalahan mengikut Akta Kebajikan Haiwan 2015. Beliau yang juga penganalisis jenayah haiwan berkata, perkara sebegini tidak sepatutnya berlaku ketika kerajaan sudah menperkenalkan Akta Kebajikan Haiwan 2015 di samping mendedahkan banyak program kesedaran di laman sosial.
